Fire Flower Watercolor 21

$250.00

Fire flowers for me represents duality. We are never only one thing. The flowers I saw in my meditations were fire themselves but never burning up. Delicate and strong. Energy and fury dancing, disappearing and then reappearing. Some of the ceramics took on the shape of water on the other hand. I love to think about how the elements are all represented…the fire (including the temperatures that the ceramics have to endure…), the air without which there is no fire, the water and all of the ceramics made out of earth. Ether ties them all together with the energy of creative practice and how all things relate and influence each other.

This 8x10 watercolor was painted with highly color fast pigments and natural pigments. Some of them were ground myself. The red ochre is from a town in France named Rousillion where much of red and yellow ochre originates. The green earth pigment that gives the green in many of these paintings such body is from Sweden.
